Restoration, repair and maintenance
Belgian facades are full of historic ironwork that deserves to be saved. We restore it, repair what breaks and maintain what needs to last.
A few sentences are enough to get started: measurements and photos are optional.
What we make
Restoration of historic ironwork
Cast-iron or wrought-iron balcony balustrades, railings and gates: stripping, repair of components, protection and painting.
Repairs
Welding on site or in the workshop, replacement of broken components, re-setting of embedded fixings.
Upgrading to standard
Raising or reinforcing existing balustrades, following an assessment and in line with the reference values of NBN B 03-004.
Maintenance and recoating
Rust treatment, touch-ups and repainting to extend the life of the work.
Co-owned buildings
Assessment of a building's balustrades and balconies, a clear quote for the general meeting of co-owners, coordinated works.
Technical points
- Embedded fixings
- On old balconies, rust in the embedded fixings makes the stone crack. We treat the cause, not just the appearance.
- Heritage
- On a listed building or in a heritage zone, even a like-for-like restoration may require a permit.
- Grants
- In Flanders, a heritage grant from the Onroerend Erfgoed agency may apply to protected heritage; in Brussels, the “small heritage” grant covers ironwork visible from the street. Conditions to be checked with the Region.
These simplified reference values do not replace a study of your project. Every piece is checked against its actual situation.
Materials and finishes
- Cast iron
- Wrought iron
- Anti-rust paint
- Metal spraying
- Embedded fixings
To prepare your enquiry
- 01A few photos of the space, from a distance and close up
- 02Approximate dimensions, even if taken with a tape measure
- 03Drawings or sketches, if you have them
- 04The intended use and the finish you'd like
None of this is required: the form guides you question by question.
Describe your projectFrequently asked questions
Can an old balustrade be kept?
In most cases, yes. After stripping, we assess the condition of the metal and the fixings. If it no longer offers enough protection, a discreet extension can bring it up to standard.
Do you work for property managers?
Yes. We carry out an assessment and prepare a clear quote for the general meeting of co-owners, then coordinate the works with the property manager and the occupants.
Do you carry out emergency repairs?
If a component is dangerous, mark it as urgent in your enquiry and we'll contact you as a priority. If there is immediate danger to passers-by, call 112 first.
